Cardinal News 250
The Cardinal News 250 project is a comprehensive three-year series commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, focusing on Virginia's significant role in the events leading up to the American Revolution. The initiative aims to uncover and narrate lesser-known stories of this era, publishing monthly packages of historical stories complemented by a newsletter.

I started my design process with research, beginning with a content audit to understand the existing structure and spot areas for improvement. Next, I had conversations with the client to learn about their goals, user needs, and challenges. To ensure the design stood out, I conducted a competitive analysis, looking at industry trends and best practices. I set design goals to lay the foundation for a thoughtful, user-focused solution.
The Research
The website follows a block-style design, creating a modular and flexible layout that seamlessly accommodates both existing and future content. This structure ensures a visually cohesive experience while allowing for easy scalability as new stories and multimedia elements are added. The grid-based system enhances readability, navigation, and engagement across devices, particularly on mobile, where clear content hierarchy and responsive adaptability are key.
